Map Of Team USA Hometowns

I was wondering where the athletes who made the USA Olympic track & field team live. I also wanted to know whether or not there are any patterns of locale based on event type (sprints/hurdles/relays, middle/long-distance/race walks, multi/field events or a combination of the three). My curiosity led me to plotting this map that shows the hometown of each athlete on Team USA. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to whether or not there are any patterns.The only one I can see is that the sprinters tend to live in the southeast. Here’s the map (after the jump):
If you click on the markers, you can find out the name and the event of the athlete who lives in each city.
