A Quote That Sums Up NBC’s Track & Field Coverage

Posted by Jimmie R. Markham | August 16, 2008

I found this quote on the Track & Field News Message Boards (thanks kamikaze7):

The US is probably the only nation in the world that did not show the 100m live. Aside from the pygmies in the Congo forest and the Indians in the Amazon and Americans, I think everyone else watched live.

That pretty much sums up my feelings. What incredibly bad coverage by NBC! It’s depressing. Well, I guess I’ll go watch some water polo now.

    Horredous coverage:

We seem to be able to watch hours and hours of beach volleyball, which does not interest me at all. Swimming and diving is pretty boring. The basketball is shown at 2-7 AM, though I would like to watch it if it were on at a reasonable time. I don’t think M Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time, maybe the greatest swimmer. I think the Decathalon champion is the best athlete. I have enough of Phelps but almost no track and field coverage. NBC coverage sucks. Even in the third world you see better coverage. I don’t want to watch baseball. I could spend my entire life watching that every season. Unless an America wins something it is not even covered. How mean spirited American patriotism is. How unfair
