Track & Field Withdrawals

Posted by Jimmie R. Markham | August 25, 2008

After that huge fix in Beijing, we track & field junkies will soon be suffering from a horrible case of Track & Field Withdrawals. Fortunately we can delay the horrible withdrawal symptoms for at least another couple of weeks because we can still look forward to watching [...live... in English instead of Norwegian...] another couple of track & field events. The next Golden League meet is Weltklasse Zürich and you can watch it live this Friday, August 29th, 2008 on TrackShark.com.

And what a meet we’ll see! Usain Bolt will cross the finish line in the 100m dash before the other athletes have had a chance to untangle themselves from the blocks, Jeremy Wariner will be interviewing LaShawn Merritt’s coach, Yelena Isinbayeva will pole vault the Uetliberg TV Tower, Blanka Vlašić will try to explain to Tia Hellebaut why her post-jump dance is much sexier than the Belgian’s fist pumps and Kenenisa Bekele will break the world records in every event from the 800m run to the 24-hour run.

As if all of that weren’t enough, Tom Borish has agreed to allow me to invite everyone of you to hang out with him while he live-blogs the entire meet. I’ll be there, opinions at the ready (we can sign in and make comments), and I hope you will, too!
